Frequently asked questions
Answers about deployment, data handling, supported devices and licensing.
General
What is ZWatch?
An on-premises platform that audits firewalls, endpoint security, switches, Wi‑Fi and email gateways, explains every event in plain language and links related events into incidents.
Which devices does ZWatch support?
Firewalls, endpoint security platforms, switches, Wi‑Fi and email gateways from several leading vendors. Ask us for the current list for your environment.
Deployment
Does ZWatch need internet access?
No. ZWatch runs completely inside your network. Threat intelligence and product updates are delivered as packages you install yourself.
How is ZWatch installed?
As a ready-to-run virtual appliance or on your own server. The appliance prepares its database and encryption on first start before the dashboard opens.
How do devices send data?
Logs arrive by syslog and configurations by secure backup. ZWatch needs no inbound access to your firewalls.
Security
Will ZWatch change anything on my devices?
No. ZWatch only reads logs and configuration backups. It never needs administrator or write rights.
Where is my data stored?
Only on your own ZWatch appliance or server, in your own database, encrypted at rest. Nothing leaves your network.
Does ZWatch store passwords?
No. Domain passwords and password hashes are never saved or cached.
Licensing
How is ZWatch licensed?
Per firewall and endpoint security server, in the Basic, Premium or Expert edition, with a choice of licence terms.
Can I try ZWatch first?
Yes. Ask for your ZWatch trial and we will prepare a trial licence and help you connect your first devices.
